How many credits should I register for?

Domestic Student : If you have a TA or RA appointment, the graduate school requires you to be registered for at least 3 credit hours each semester to be paid.  If you have a fellowship, the graduate school requires you to be registered for at least 8 credit hours in the fall and spring, and 6 in the summer. 

International Student : If you have a TA or RA, ISS requires you to be registered for at least 6 credit hours for the fall and spring.  If you have a fellowship the graduate school requires you to have 8 credit hours in the fall or spring, and 6 credit hours in the summer .

Request Notes:  Enter number of credits and name of instructor - After you are registered , you will submit a follow-up request to adjust the number of credits. (The system will set the credits = 1 as a default. The second step is necessary). If the request is submitted AFTER the first week of classes then the request will go on to the approval of instructor and advisor. (up to the end of the first week of classes the adjustment of credits will not need further approvals).
