Siddharth Saksena Wins First Prize at ASCE EWRI Conference (05/17/2015)
Congratulations to Siddharth for winning the Student Technical Paper Contest at the World Environmental and Water Resources Congress 2015. The paper titled "Investigating the Role of DEM Resolution and Accuracy on Flood Inundation Mapping," is based on Siddharth's MS thesis that addresses a very practical issue of data accuracy, and proposes an approach to get better flood inundation maps from coarser and less accurate topographic datasets. Siddharth is continuing his research at Purdue as a PhD student.

Sanjiv Kumar wins top honor at AGU 2010 Fall Meeting
Congratulations to Sanjiv Kumar, a PhD student in the hydraulics and hydrology, for winning the Outstanding Student Paper Award at the American Geophysical Union's 2010 Fall Meeting in San Francisco, CA. This award was given by the AGU for Sanjiv Kumar's poster titled "Future Water Resource Scenarios for USA: Effects of Land Use/Cover Change, Climate Change and Human Disturbance". Sanjiv's work investigates the role of population and biophysical factors on the change in historical land use pattern in the United States. Sanjiv's award winning poster is co-authored by Prof. Venkatesh Merwade in the school of Civil Engineering, and Bryan Pijanowski in the Purdue's School of Forestry and Natural Resources.
