I received my B.S. in Biochemistry from Purdue University College of Agriculture in May 2009 and joined Purdue PULSe Integrative Neuroscience training group in August 2009. I chose to stay in Zheng lab for my doctoral degree research and am currently working on the project to understand how Mn and other metals cause the aggregation of a-synuclein in vitro and how this may affect the clearance of a-synuclein by the blood-CSF barrier.

I knew Dr. Zheng since 2005 when he came to Guangxi Medical University to initiate his research collaboration with Dr. Yueming Jiang on Mn occupational toxicity. I met Dr. Zheng nearly every year during his subsequent visits to local factories, hospitals and patient's homes and was proud to be a part of those human cohort studies. After I obtained my Master degree in occupational toxicology in 2008, I came to Zheng lab in 2008 for my doctoral education. Currently I am working on the Cu transport by the blood-CSF barrier and blood-brain barrier and focusing on ATP7A. It has been inspiring to see how Dr. Zheng extends our bench-top research to human cohorts and vice versa.

I got my PhD degree in Pharmacy from Zhejiang University College of Pharmacy in 2011. Dr. Zheng was one of the members of my doctoral committee; for this, I spent one year in 2010 in Dr. Zheng's laboratory to learn the blood-brain barrier research techniques used in drug transport studies. Currently, I am a postdoctoral fellow working on the mechanism of manganism and also exploring blood/CSF/brain transport of critical proteins involved in neurodegenerative injury.

I earned a B.S. in psychology and a B.A. in biology from Indiana University at Bloomington. I worked for Harlan Laboratories in Indianapolis, Indiana for 5 years before starting my doctoral study at Purdue University in 2011. Currently, I am the 1st year doctoral student in the PULSe program with an interest in neurodegenerative diseases. I am rotating in Dr. Zheng's lab and am assisting in the study of manganese-induced parkinsonian toxicity in rats.

I am working in Department of Preventive Medicine, College of Medicine, Chung-Ang University in Seoul, Korea. My major research interest is in the environmental & occupational medicine; especially I am interested in metal toxicology and bio-monitoring in the community. Dr Zheng and I have made a friendship and exchanged scientific knowledge for more than 10 years. Now, I am taking my sabbatical leave in Dr. Zheng's lab as a visiting professor to extend my knowledge for the effects of metals on the CNS.

I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in medicine and my Master’s degree in diagnostic radiology from Xi’an Jiaotong University before coming to Dr. Zheng’s lab for my doctoral study in toxicology in 2013. Currently, I am working on the project to detect the potential toxic effects of nanoparticles on vocal folds.

I earned my PhD in Toxicology from University of Kansas Medical Center under supervision of Dr. Curtis Klaassen in 1992. I am currently working in Key Lab for Basic Pharmacology of Ministry of Education in Zunyi, China. Dr. Zheng and I have common interests in metal toxicology and are involved in Mn study in occupational exposed population in Zunyi, China for 10 years. Now, I am a visiting scholar in Dr. Zheng’s Lab to study molecular mechanisms of toxicity produced by manganese, lead, arsenic, and mercury.
