HISTORY:  Phi Beta Chi was first started in 1978 at the University of Illinois with the establishment of the Alpha Chapter.  The BETA chapter, here at Purdue University, was formed on January 28, 1980 by Bonnie Helfer, Mary Gerlach, and Walt Rose.  Phi Beta Chi has a unique Lutheran Heritage in which it prides itself in.  The ideals of the Phi Beta Chi were formed out of a Lutheran understanding of the world and are set forth in the sorority's Creed.  We offer spiritual growth activities and encourage faith development.  Phi Beta Chi is open to all women.  We take pride in our diversity as we prepare members for a lifetime of excellence in all endeavors..

SISTERHOOD:  Phi Beta Chi is a national sorority in which the friendships formed last a lifetime.  We form strong bonds as sisters through the many activities we participate, which include, Greek relations, philanthropy, Barn Dance, Formal, lock-ins, retreats, and much much more!

SCHOLARSHIP:  Phi Beta Chi emphasizes a continuing effort for personal growth and excellence in all that we do.  Phi Beta Chi requirements are set to challenge each member to perform to their potential.  We encourage scholarship through study table hours and Scholarship Recognition.  As of Spring Semester 2004, we are ranked #8 with a 3.202 among all 21 sororities on Purdue's campus.  Each member must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above to remain in good standing with the chapter.
