What is the Caduceus Club?
Caduceus Club is for any student at Purdue interested in a career in health care. Activities include hearing guest speakers from health-care professions and from medical schools, philanthropy projects with health-care organizations in the community, and a yearly volunteering mission trip. Although many of our activities are catered to pre-med students, we encourage all majors to join and participate in the wide variety of activities we provide.
Examples of past activities and guest speakers include the Director of Admissions for Indiana University School of Medicine, an MD/PhD student, an orthopedic surgeon who works with the Indianapolis Colts, a tour of the cadaver labs and the IUSM campus in West Lafayette, and a blood drive hosted by the club.
How Much Does it cost to be a member of the Caduceus Club?
Member dues this $10 per semester. Caduceus Club t-shirts will be sold for an additional amount.
How do I become a member?
To become a member, simply fill out a New Member Form and pay the $10 due fee by the deadline.
Students can pay their dues* any of these ways:
1.) Give to any Caduceus Club officer during meetings or call-outs or, to ensure that we will plan to have a spot for you at the meeting you want to attend.
2.) Drop them in the Caduceus Club Mailbox in Lilly 1-123
3.) Send by mail to:
Caduceus Club
Lilly Hall Rm 1-123
Purdue University
915 West State Street
West Lafayette, IN 47907-2054
*All checks should be made out to Purdue Caduceus Club. Please include your name and e-mail address along with your check in a sealed envelope.
We are requiring you to attend six major events in order for you to be an active member in our club.
How do I find out about meetings and how often do you meet?
We generally advertise meetings through e-mails to the club list and through our website. The places and dates for meetings are on the front page of the website. We meet once or twice a month.
The more you come to the meetings, the more you will get out of being a member of the club! We try to work with evening test dates to schedule our meetings so that the maximum amount of members may attend. However, at times this does not always work because we must also work around the schedules of our speakers.
We provide socials for our members periodically throughout the year. This is so other members can meet one another and learn about different activities on campus. This is a great way to become more involved and learn about opportunities that will make you a better candidate for medical school.
