About Adopt-a-Grandparent
Our Purpose:
To encourage the development of meaningful relations between the students of Purdue University and elderly
individuals in the West Lafayette and/or Lafayette community.
We partner students with elderly individuals in the community so they can set up regular visits with their "grandparent".
We also host socials where the whole Adopt-A-Grandparent club has the opportunity to visit as a group to assisted living homes.
Other activities include assisting our "grandparents", visiting them, or just calling to talk
and check up on them at least twice a month.
Adopt-A-Grandparent has socials at different retirement villages during the course of the semester to meet some grandparents.
The pro tempore can then assign members to pair them with a grandparent. Students can visit their grandparent in a group
or solo. We have had a socials at Westminster Village and Green Tree Assisted Living and Cumberland Pointe in Fall 2011.
Dues:
Our dues are $8 per year (or $5 per semester).
Tshirts may also be available mid-year if you are interested (~$10).
