Whoops

I hope that worked.

Jodi's webpage

Here's a link to my home page. I just experimented with fireworks over break and have used it with my updated 106 webpage. Hopefully, I'll make revisions on my current home page soon.

Posting links in Blogger

Here's a refresher on posting links manually in Blogger:

Here is the format:
name of the link

Here is an example of a how you would compose a post with a link:

CNN reports on the California mudslide, where 10 people have died.

Here's what the text would look like on the web:

CNN reports on the California mudslide, where 10 people have died.

A "Blogger" news story

Ok... I'm seeing "BLOGGER" news everywhere now. Here's a story I pick up from the BBC Frontpage: Apparently Bloggers are being given credit for crashing the story that Dan Rather misreported on President Bush's National Guard duty. I'm cut and pasted the pertinent portion of the story below. The link to the rest = http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4166771.stm AND, if anyone would be good enough to post (once more) that string of info that creates a link inside a post, I'd be grateful for the help. I must have missed something in class. My links don't work yet. Thanks. -mary

/Bloggers win

Commentators also said the relationship between the media and its audience has fundamentally shifted in the age of the blog - online commentators who in this case acted as a grass roots fact check for the report.

This turn of events marks a historic shift in media power relationships. A bunch of bloggers, working mostly at home - the so-called pyjama gang - actually nailed the 'Tiffany Network'
James Pinkerton, Newsday
"Blogs 1, CBS 0," wrote New York Newsday columnist James Pinkerton.

The report was largely based on documents provided by Lieutenant Colonel Bill Burkett, a vocal critic of President Bush.

Conservative bloggers began questioning the authenticity of the documents within 18 minutes after the report aired, according to Jeff Jarvis of the Buzzmachine blog.

"This turn of events marks a historic shift in media power relationships. A bunch of bloggers, working mostly at home - the so-called pyjama gang - actually nailed the 'Tiffany Network'," Mr Pinkerton wrote./

More blogger helpers

You can use this little bookmarklet tool called BlogThis!. Just drag and drop it into the toolbar.

Alpparently, like IE, Safari doesn't show the full menu of editing features in Blogger. Apparently, there is a little link button, among other editing buttons. Check on your browser at home.

Instant messenger info

This is very reductive. For more thorough information, see this link:

instant messenging

Basically, instant messenger clients are programs, protocols are the languages they speak. So, the AOL Instant Messenger speaks only its own language, as does the MSN messenger, the Yahoo! messenger, and many others.

Probably the easiest way to go if you haven't used instant messenging before is just use the AOL Instant Messenger:

AIM

It will walk you through how to create an account. The IM client built into the Macintoshes, iChat, can use the AOL Instant Messenger protocol, so you can use it in class.

However, if you are using a Windows machine at home and you are familiar with IM, you might give Trillian a whirl. It can use lots of different protocols, such as AOL, MSN, ICQ, and others.

Trillian

If you use a Mac, you might look into Fire:

Fire

It also can handle many different protocols.
