Color plays an
important role in the design process. A well thought-out design shows
that the way color is applied may not only reveal structural relationships
(theoretical approaches to color harmony, interaction, etc.), but it
is also able to visually emphasize/communicate the intended message
(compositional and semantic use of color). In most cases, in order to
effectively select color, the designer needs to be familiar with a tool
and a system of order: a color model.
The RGB Color Cube
is an effective tool to develop color design skills when working for
electronic media. However, similar to any color model, it needs to be
learned in order to be fully explored as a design tool. Designers dealing
with electronic color are not taking advantage of this technology because
of the lack of understanding and skills in utilizing this new product.
In addition, the RGB color cube is a valid design tool for both the
novice as well as the experienced designer when making color related
design
Training is an
appropriate solution to teach about the potentials and applications
of the RGB Color Cube as a design tool and consequently provide electronic-based
color design instruction for media designers. This course is based on
self-directed computer-based exercises. In this course, "hands-on" activities
will be emphasized for they are effective when teaching art/design skill.
