ODD: CALIGULA: METHOD OR MADNESS?
Treat Suetonius' Life of Caligula from the perspective of their use
of absolute power. Describe in detail the more bizarre actions and attitudes of
the Emperor Gaius and discuss possible rational motives behind
them. What was he trying to prove? How does he behave toward
various social elements at Rome -- the senatorial aristocracy, the
knights, the Roman people, the Roman army, the provincials? Suetonius' Life
of Caligula is available on line at:http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/ancient/suetonius-caligula.html
