- While recognizing that the owner has complete responsibility for their dog's behavior, the Campus Dog Owners' Group members and officers are committed to having an environment that is safe for both dogs and owners. In order to do this, the following aggressive behavior policy will be enforced by the Group's officers.
- Any behavior that could cause harm or is threatening, emotional or physical, could be termed aggressive. Minor mouthing or barking, though offensive, will not be considered as aggression.
- Any incident where a dog bites another dog or human, no matter how minor, the person in charge must report, in writing to the President within three days (email is OK).
- The officer present and owner will check to see if there are any wounds resulting from the incident. They will also notify all parties of these procedures. First aid shall be provided and, if needed, the owner of the wounded dog is responsible for obtaining veterinary care.
- An Incident Report form will need to be filed with the President of CDOG with 3 days of an incident resulting in injury.
- If a written report from an owner is filed, an appointed mediator, not involved, may meet with all parties to determine what action, if any, needs to be taken. This may include, but is not limited to, behavior modification counseling, muzzling, leash control at all times, and/or suspension of the dog (not the owner) from group activities for a specified period of time.
- All incidents reported will be kept on file by the President.
- Officers will be the final authority for resolving all incidents in a fair and timely manner.
