Welcome

Michael Johnson is a Ph.D. student at Purdue University - West Lafayette, Indiana in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Currently, he is studying wind energy and power systems under the guidance of Prof. Dionysios Aliprantis.

Biography

Interested in sustainable energy, Michael pursued and obtained the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Iowa State University in 2012. During his undergraduate education, Michael first encountered wind energy during an internship with ITC Midwest. It was there that he was first exposed to some of the issues regarding integration of wind energy into the power system. In 2012 Michael became a National Science Foundation Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) fellow in pursuit of a Ph.D. in the Wind Energy Science, Engineering, and Policy (WESEP) program at Iowa State University where he was a Research Assistant under Prof. Dionysios Aliprantis. After a year Michael transferred to Purdue University with Prof. Aliprantis where he will finish his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research is focused on power electronics, electric machine drives, direct-current systems, and wind energy conversion and collection.
