Technology When considering wireless networking in higher education, it is important to note that several wireless uses and applications are available for the auxiliary and administrative areas on campus. While most research to date of wireless networking and application for higher education focuses on teaching and its application in classroom settings (and beyond), departments throughout campus can also use the same wireless network to perform services and stay in touch while away from the office. Mobility on campus using wireless networking is limited only to the imagination. Indeed, wireless technologies can be an enabler of better business processes- better, faster cheaper- adding value to the business unit and beyond. Currently, the technology is still in its infancy in terms of adoption on campuses. However, as technology improves and the price of wireless devices continues to drop, ubiquitous computing will become a reality. Vendors Cisco 3Com Apple Computer Intel Enterasys
