FAQs  ●  Accommodations    Galena Weather

~FAQs & Other Useful Information~

Where should you stay while in Galena?
Because Galena is a popular vacation spot (as well as a beautiful location for a June wedding), finding accommodations can be difficult during the summer months.  Because of this, we have taken the liberty of making reservations for our guests at the Grant Hills Country View Motel.  Please read the "Overnight Accommodations" section below for information on how to secure your reservation.

When should you arrive in Galena?
We purposefully planned an evening wedding to make sure you had a chance to arrive in Galena and relax for a few hours before heading out for the ceremony. Galena is between 3 and 5 hours away depending on where you live. Leaving early in the morning will allow you time to get to Galena... relax... shower... and meet with other family members.

What time should you leave the motel for the church?
The ceremony begins at 6:30 pm, however you can show up at the ceremony site as early as 5:30. Oak Hill is beautiful and you may wish to come early and tour the grounds. Seating and music begin at 6:00. Oak Hill is approximately 30 minutes away from the motel.

Is this a formal or casual event?
The bride, as well as the girls, will be wearing full length dresses and the men will be in tuxedos. The "look" is formal,  but the event itself is meant to be intimate.  Dress however you feel most comfortable.

Can you take pictures during the ceremony?
Please do!  Professional photographs are being taken in Lafayette prior to the wedding; however, no photographer will be present at the ceremony. Please feel free to take photos and videotape during the ceremony if you would like. (We would gladly accept and appreciate any duplicates you might have made.)
