What can I do to help?

Please review our volunteer application form to find out what kinds of jobs our volunteers do. If you have a specific question about any of the tasks, please e-mail plasymposium@gmail.com.

I want to serve on more than one committees, is that possible?

Yes! We only ask that you be sure you can dedicate the time necessary for all of the subcommittees you apply for.

I don't have any previous experience, can I still help?

Yes! We have experienced members who are willing to help you through the volunteering process.

What kind of time commitment should I plan for?

Time commitment greatly depends on the kinds of tasks you volunteer for, so please review the detailed committee descriptions(requires permission) or just ask the committee chairs! Also, some committees are only active for a limited amount of time, such as the call for papers and the abstract review committee.

I don't know what my schedule will look like in February and March, is it possible for me to wait to volunteer?

While we would like to have a volunteer head-count as soon as possible, we understand that life as a student means your schedule from one month to the next can be unpredictable. Because of the incremental nature of planning a large-scale event, there is always something that you can help with at any given point in the planning process.

When does the committee meet? When do the committees meet?

Specific meeting times for 2014 Symposium is TBD. Committee meetings are determined by the committee members, as are the sub-committee meetings if there is any. (Please note you can come to either one or both hours of this meeting.)

I have an idea for a way to apply my skills that is not listed as an option on the volunteer form, who do I contact?

Once we have announced the committee chairs (or co-chairs), you may contact them directly or you may e-mail plasymposium@gmail.com.
